The battlefield was gray and dry with the effect of the war, cold wind blowing the trees made them sway in air. I could see the many injured leaving the battle and some too weak to move from where they lay.

I could here the sounds of the gunshots and bombs, a tremor of wounded men seconds away from death. What horrid moans the soldiers made as they slowly silenced to their eternal, peaceful, slumber.

As time passed on, I still stayed. I stayed by his side as he smiled, trying to reassure me that he was okay. A feeling came… It was cold and wet as it ran down my face. Bitterly, I wiped it away from my eyes; still it kept coming. He knew he was going to pass on. He was young and not ready to die, but he was a true soldier with pride. However, dieing for this country is really just not worth it.

Death was slowly capturing him. His eyes were as innocent as a newborn baby. The smile on his face stayed constant, even when in pain. I held his hand as he breathed his last breath and that feeling came again, swelling inside as cold wet tears began to fall again.
